Kindergarten “Petar Pan” is public kindergarten in Zagreb. We work at six locations in the town center and our kindergarten attends 400 children aged from 1-7. Seventy employees take care of children, of which 43 are educators and specialized staff like pedagogue, psychologist, speech and language therapist, medical nurse. We are inclusive preschool and practice integration of children with different kinds of developmental, emotional, behavioral and health problems like autism, ADHD, memory and learning difficulties, intellectual difficulties, children with chronic illness.
Our curriculum is based on holistic approach, combining social construct theory and Reggio pedagogy. We strive to make the learning environment for children allowing them freedom in activity choice according to their interests, abilities and competences. That approach strengthens their self-confidence and other social and emotional competences. Additionally, we have English, Art and Music programs, Computer science program, special curriculum for potentially gifted children. The oldest children every year have opportunity to join forest camp outdoors when they go away for a week with their teachers. We cooperate with 3 universities in Zagreb (Early Education, Psychology, Special Education and Rehabilitation) and we teach and mentor students. Our teachers are motivated for Lifelong Learning and improving their teaching practice and from 2013 our kindergarten had six international Erasmus+ projects. In 2018. Croatian National Agency for mobility and EU programs officially appointed our kindergarten as Erasmus+ ambassador in the field of Early Years and Pre-School Education. |
